To My Fellow Dentists,

Restarting your practice after the COVID-19 shutdown can be daunting. The latest ADA surveys indicate that 36% of private practices were still closed as of late May for all but emergency procedures and 62% of open practices had less than 50% of normal patient flow.

Throughout the crisis, A Plus Dental Care has kept all of our Sacramento area practices open to provide essential and emergency services and help keep dental emergencies out of the ER. With the support of our partner, Smile Brands Inc. we’ve now returned to pre-COVID productivity and continue to treat many patients whose dentists have not reopened.

I’ve spoken with many friends in private practice who are unsure about the future and looking for advice with questions such as:

• What are we doing to ensure the safety of staff and patients?
• How have we secured necessary PPE?
• How are we managing the increased PPE costs?
• What are we doing to convince patients it’s safe to visit our offices?
• Has the virus impacted our hygiene program?
• What are my options to transition my practice?

In April, over 500,000 dental jobs were lost in the U.S.  At A Plus Dental Care, we feel that this is not a time for competition but rather collaboration. Because we’ve been open throughout the pandemic, we’ve accumulated a lot of experience and resources that may be helpful to practices that are currently reopening. We also have partnered with struggling practice owners who wanted to accelerate their retirement or needed to navigate financial challenges. We are offering the Return to Success Resources below to other dentists struggling with new safety protocols, training, and patient communications.
