Volunteers from Smile Brands, Inc., an Irvine, CA based company providing support services to over 350 affiliate dental practices across 16 states, joined up with Share Our Selves (SOS), to help with their 22nd Annual Back to School Program on August 19, where they distributed over 4,000 backpacks and other necessary school supplies to underserved youth in Orange County.
Smile Brands employees donated backpacks filled with school supplies to this year’s drive and representatives from the company and the Smiles for Everyone Foundation volunteered to help distribute the supplies to local area families.
“Who doesn’t remember the excitement of starting a new school year armed with a pack full of paper, pencils, glue sticks and all those items that make school fun,” said Crystal Strait, Executive Director of the Smiles for Everyone Foundation. “Participating in this event is just another way we can fulfill our mission of delivering smiles for everyone in the communities we serve.”
SOS celebrated another successful program this year as they gave out backpacks and other school supplies including binders, spiral notebooks, pens, filler paper, markers, calculators, and gift cards for new school uniforms. All of the backpacks and school supplies donated were given to SOS by community members who believed in SOS’ mission to provide the necessary items for underserved children in Orange County to go back to school with the confidence to tackle the 2017-2018 school year.
