Why did you decide to enter the Practice Ownership Program?

I have strived over the years to make and keep my office one of the most successful practices in the company. I have always treated my career here as “my career” and not just a temporary job. It just made sense for me to enter into ownership and reap more of the benefits I’ve helped create.

What was the highlight or favorite part of the process?

Looking at the success of my practice historically and the projection of success in the future. It’s exciting to see how caring for others translates into providing the best for my family.

What concerns did you have and how did Smile Brands help you feel comfortable entering into partnership?

I was concerned about having to sell my partnership at the end to gain the full profits, but with Smile Brands’ put option (ability to sell my shares) it made my decision a no-brainer.

What are you most excited about of the future now being a partner?

I’m proud to be a partner both because it sounds better to be an employee-owner than just being an employee and I receive a cut of the profits that traditionally went completely to the corporation. I come to work and do the best job that I can each and every day (which hasn’t changed since becoming a partner), but now I get more of the monetary reward. If someone asks me if I work for Midwest Dental, I can now say yes, but I actually own a part of my practice as well.

Anything else unique to your experience you’d like to share?

This investment opportunity allows me the perks of some ownership, without the stress of having to deal with every detail that has to be dealt with if I completely owned my own practice.
